  1. A single provider with large production capacity

It is common to have to look for a provider for each component manufacturing process in the heavy industry market. Gometegui has included and improved all the processes, ranging from material acquisition to logistics. Moreover, the fact that all the steps to assemble any part are grouped together under the same workshop makes the work of the buyers easier.

Our production capacity reaches figures of up to 200 t of lifting capacity and machining for components up to 12 m in diameter and 6 m in height. Gometegui has lathes with capabilities that are hardly seen in the rest of Europe.

As far as welding is concerned, our experience covers all kinds of possibilities, which can be reinforced through investments, if necessary.

For painting work, we have 2 cabs up to 6 m high and 9 m wide, a very significant size for the production of components for the heavy industry.

It should be noted that, although we offer a comprehensive solution, the overall production of our company is not limited at any time. In fact, we have had more than 30 projects in progress at the same time, reflecting the great capacity our workshop, and our team, have to offer.

 

  1. Different sectors of the heavy industry

Gometegui works in different sectors within the heavy industry:

  • Wind power generation: extensive experience in component manufacturing for wind turbines. We specialise in large wind turbines up to 12 MW.
  • Nuclear: machinery capable of machining the largest components. Our knowledge and experience in welding enables us to meet the requirements of this industry.
  • Tunnel boring machines: we are specialists in this type of equipment, for which we also produce rings and housings. They have very strict construction requirements, something we have been working on for years.
  • Hydraulic energy: experience in component manufacturing for hydraulic power generation. We manufacture rotors, housings and crossheads, among others.
  • Steel industry: we are able to manufacture all the components of a steel mill, following the highest standards and the most demanding requirements.
  • Shipbuilding: high added value in the manufacture of parts and equipment for the shipbuilding sector.
  • Big Science: we have built the structure for the dome of the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST), the largest in the world so far.

We provide constant support to the client during the entire project process. We assign a Project Manager who is responsible for the achievement of all milestones within the agreed deadlines.

  1. ‘Lean Manufacturing’

Thanks to the Lean Manufacturing method, which is a very unusual system in the heavy industry, and which we introduced two years ago, we have achieved  excellent performances. We published a post about this recently, click here to access it.

We are in the quest for operational excellence, and we organise daily meetings with the managers of each department in order to share the progress, the needs or the possible deviations in our projects. Due to this change, we have managed to fulfil over 98% of the deliveries, which has led to a response of total trust from our clients.

Quality assurance is the main reason why so many important clients have trusted us for so many years. We work in sectors where late deliveries and unjustified cost overruns cannot be accepted. That is why we plan. We keep our clients informed at all times; we want them to feel that manufacture is well backed up. In addition, to guarantee the quality of the components we manufacture, we offer the possibility of carrying out non-destructive internal trials.
